Mercury Hibberdene Children’s Holiday Home had the wonderful privilege of hosting some of the employees from SAPREF this Mandela Day.
Staff members came and enjoyed a fantastic day with the pupils from Gobhella Primary School in Mthwalume, who were all treated to a fun-filled day that included sponsored lunch boxes from SAPREF, learning the Jika Jive dance as well as painting the most amazing South African flag in honour of the late Madiba.
Here, dedicating their 67 minutes for Mandela Day are Nonkululeko Nxumalo and MaryLynn Muruges of Sanlam with The Homes administrator in the centre, Chairmaine Barnwell.
Such fun was had on this special day!
Here we see Vanessa Brisset CSI Co-ordinator and Marketing Intern Robyn Fynn assisting the children with getting their hands painted before making their mark on the SA flag.
It is such an empowering and overwhelming feeling, experiencing the laughter, love and appreciation of children. The pupils of Gobhella Primary School really made our Mandela Day one that we will never forget!
“Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world!” – Nelson Mandela
Apart from making the pupils day an enjoyable one, the staff members from SAPREF blessed the Mercury Hibberdene Children’s Holiday Home by spending their 67 minutes for Mandela painting the homes dining room and the teachers’ lounge as well as re-sealing some of the broken bricks on the side of the swimming pool – as seen below!
They also assisted in handing out the sponsored lunch boxes to the pupils of Gobhella Primary School who were elated to say the least.
A HUGE thank-you to everyone involved! What a blessed day it was.
